Our admissions process is holistic, considering numerous factors and information shared in all sections of your application. While test scores are not required to submit an application, we do also consider test scores in this admissions process. Including test scores will give us more information by which to review an application and a more complete picture of the applicant. You should refer to the collegeboard or ACT websites to determine test dates and score release dates.
Applications can be submitted after all sections of the application are complete and after recommendation requests have been sent to a math teacher, science teacher, and school counselor.
If you submit before the deadline, you will still be able to edit your application until the deadline.Join him tomorrow at 3pm ET as he answers questions about how his internships.Passports gloucester

November in Summer Programs. Hey everyone! I've seen other threads like this for every year and it would be great if former students can collaborate with info and tips.
November Think them through, work hard and get people to review them. Good luck!! I just want to say that even though MITES seems like the most worth it of the programs, I can tell you that the others are as amazing also. Even though you're on campus for 5 days, you gain amazing information through reading other people's blogs and through the webinars they host.
Anyways, now that I'm done with my promo, a few tips I have are 1 Be completely genuine in your essays. You don't have to show yourself as this STEM god who only seems to enjoy science related stuff.
If you're into humanities and social sciences, write about it!! Something I wrote about last year was my involvement in the music program at my school, and it worked out, so yeah 2 Start a group chat!
One of the most memorable things I remember from applying is the chat that was created while we were all applying. I made some lasting friendships through it, and its nice to have people you can relate to that can get you through the app process.
I still talk to many of these people currently now that we're doing college applications.

Does anyone know like around what time applications are released? I know they say late fall but that is so vague. When were they released last year? I think this week. From community college to online programs. Check out our directory of virtual campus tours we know about right now. Check out our exclusive directory of extended deadlines we know about right now. January in Summer Programs. So, I just felt like posting this because I have strong feelings about this program. I had so many hopes for the program, most of which fell flat.
I still would love to attend MIT, but I think this outreach program is just garbage. You spend the first month doing online courses, a week at MIT for the "conference week" and the next five months doing online, mandatory webinars and blog responses.
You would think 6 months with MIT alum would be great, but it was quite the contrary.
Let me work backwards: The last five months of the program were busy work. That's it. The blog prompts were one of the more useful things and even those mostly consisted of "what are your aspirations?
What are your ideals? How does this effect your views of STEM? Webinars were mostly just people talking to us about their jobs, mostly which were chemical engineering for some reason.
Discussion prompts seemed like they were more about social justice than about STEM. The conference week was enjoyable, but I felt rushed between everything and we were given no actual time to absorb information, rather we were scurried between events that were over-glorified step-by-step processes. I understand that we are still high school students, but it is absurd that we had to be escorted from Baker House to the Infinity Hall.
The online courses were okay. Nothing I would rank above some free coursera courses though. However I think I did benefit from the science writing course quite a bit. And then comes the worst part of all: the nature of the mandatory discussions. The entirety of the discussions were that of an echo-chamber.
Repeating exactly what someone else stated with slightly different wording was rewarded, while any form of dissent especially on the social justice posts was either ignored or "You have the right to an opinion"-ed which happened a lot of the time when someone simply stated questionable methodology Brown-nosing was heavily rewarded and quantity of input was more appreciated than quality.
For the record it is probably because I come from a low-income, rural background. Look, I get that that does not come anywhere near to the discrimination that some minorities face in day-to-day life, but in a community ABOUT accepting each other in STEM fields, it felt wrong as any form of discrimination should.
Not to mention, my "cluster" leader very commonly skipped over me during the mandatory weekly meetings and would say things along the lines of "I know you don't have much of a cultural background, but how do you think it has affected your ability to pursue STEM?
They were downright unhelpful. The MOSTEC program begins the summer before students' senior year in high school and extends through students' first semester in 12th grade. All educational, food and boarding costs are generously covered by our funders. Students only pay for transportation to and from MIT. Students take one intensive project-based course and a science writing course.
Past courses have included:. Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Students analyzed real data via an interactive online interface and contributed to real neuroscience research. Topics covered included neurobiology, systems neuroscience, and connectomics. Neurobiology focuses largely on cellular and molecular neuroscience to understand the brain at its most fundamental level by examining the basic elements of the nervous system. Systems Neuroscience deals with information flow and processing within the central nervous system, and aims to develop an understanding of sensory systems and motor control.
Connectomics researchers are currently working to map the connections of the brain, neuron by neuron, synapse by synapse. By the end of the course, students are able to understand and appreciate the big questions that people across the field are trying to answer. Humans have been fascinated by light for centuries. From early humanoids discovering fire and exploring all of its capabilities for food and technology, to modern day optical techniques used in the LIGO experiments to confirm gravitational waves.
Humans have always had a fascination with light and the way it interacts with matter. Students learned mathematical techniques that describe the physical nature of how light interacts with different objects and tested this theory by doing at home experiments each week.
Past workshop offerings have included:. Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Skip to main content.

MOSTEC has both in-person and online components and consists of 3 phases outlined below: Academic Phase June- Early August : Students complete 2 online courses and projects in science, engineering, and science writing with support from course instructors. Students begin meeting virtually in small groups with undergraduate mentors. They present their projects, attend workshops, and paticipate in social and community-building events.
Students also have the opportunity to ask admissions and financial aid-related questions in the Admissions Corner, which is run by MIT Admissions counselors. Academic Phase Courses Students take one intensive project-based course and a science writing course. Past courses have included: Astrophysics Students learn core concepts in astronomy and apply them in exercises using real astronomical software and data.
Topics include angular scale, proper motion, properties of light and color, production of light, spectral imaging, mathematical models, blackbody radiation, light curves, the Doppler effect, and more. Instruction involves guided hands-on demonstrations, readings, instructional videos, written problems, and computer image processing and analysis.Check out our exclusive directory of extended deadlines we know about right now.

I'm half Pacific Islander and half Asian. Am I considered a minority? For the 3rd essay the identity onecould your economic situation be considered as part of your identity?
December edited December Is it OK if I mention specifically which program I want to be in? Schuh07 32 replies 3 threads Junior Member. TheMadScientistX There are many ways that you could go with your economic situation, so it would depend on how you play this card. You might end up unconsciously complaining about your economic situation, but it won't help you. You might end up talking about how you've thrived academically given your economic situation, which I've seen work out for some people not for this specific application.
You might also discuss how your economic situation doesn't define you, which I've also seen some people write about again, not for this specific application. My point is, it depends on how you write it.
My suggestion is to write the essay first and have some people proofread it. From there, you'll be able to decide whether or not your essay is appropriate for the prompt.Islamic studies worksheets for grade 1
I read online here I don't remember which thread that this was the first time that the OEOP allowed applicants to select a certain program if they're only interested in one. I'm not sure if they will be allowing applicants to select which program to participate in this year. I don't remember where I was given the option on the application, I just remember it being there.
It was probably towards the end of the application. I'm not really sure how to give you advice on this if you don't have the option this year to choose.
My recommender has not received the recommendation request email with the link and instructions to fill out my recommendation. What do I do? As soon as you submit your recommender's email address, they are sent an email with a link to the application portal and information about completing the recommendation form.
This request email is sometimes blocked by school spam filters. If your recommenders have not received the email containing the link, please first ask them to check their spam folder. Also, please check to make sure there were no typos in the recommender's email address in your application. If you are sure that your recommender has checked their spam and that their email address was correct in your application, then your recommender may need help accessing their account, and you should read the information below carefully: Recommenders who have submitted a recommendation on summerapp in a previous year, should be able to log into their account at summerapp.
If you must change your recommender, first reach out to your old recommender to let them know. Once the recommender is changed in the system, any work that the initial recommender completed will be lost.
This means you should make sure your recommender has not already started their recommendation before you make any changes. I do not have a school counselor to request a recommendation from. May I request a letter from another teacher? The counselor recommendation cannot come from another teacher. If you do not have a school counselor or advisor, please request this recommendation from someone in your school administration who has access to your transcript and academic record ex.
Who should complete my recommendations, and how should they be submitted?MoshTekk - Déjà Vu
You should let your recommenders know that the recommendation includes both an evaluation form and a narrative section that must be completed on the online application platform. You should also let them know that you have selected them to complete your recommendation and that they should anticipate receiving access to their recommendation form through a link in an email that is automatically generated once you submit your recommendation requests in your application. Once you have identified these recommenders, you must request recommendations using the online application.
I do not know my school counselor that well. Can I get a recommendation from someone else? However, this can also come from a dean or principal as long as the individual has access to your transcript and academic record.
